MHN Welcomes Coastal Heritage Alliance, Jill Johnson

I'd like to welcome two new members to Maritime Heritage Network. First, the Coastal Heritage Alliance is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and advancement of commercial fishing family cultural heritage as it still exists in the persons, vessels, skills and stories of a rapidly vanishing industry once prevalent among and vital to the socio-economic life of communities along the shores of North America. The organization is Washington-based, but also operates in Maryland, and it is playing a strong, visible role in the vision for reshaping and enhancing maritime heritage activities in the Puget Sound region.

I'd also like to welcome Jill Johnson, a Washington State storyteller who specializes in Puget Sound maritime history, particularly the ferry service. She's best known for her "Little, But Oh My!" presentations about Berte Olson, the first female ferry captain on Puget Sound.
