Volunteers Needed for Several MH Projects

Northwest Seaport is looking for volunteers on several important maritime history projects:
  • Arthur Foss: The month of September is very busy on the historic tugboat Arthur Foss. For example, the tug needs docents for Seafaring Family Fun Days, Sept. 23-24. Please contact Shannon Fitzgerald, 206-595-1807.
  • Twilight: The salmon troller Twilight needs about five volunteers that can help prepare the vessel for a joint program with the Center for Wooden Boats. The volunteers will activate the boat, move her to another dock, and put her to use in an educational program about local fishing history and culture. Contact Shannon Fitzgerald, 206-595-1807.
  • Swiftsure: The historic Lightship #83, a National Historic Landmark, is being readied for major restoration work funded with a federal grant. To help, call Shannon Fitzgerald, 206-595-1807.
Northwest Seaport also sponsors frequent work parties on Saturdays and/or Sundays at South Lake Union Park in Seattle. This is a great opportunity to learn about Pacific Northwest maritime history and volunteer in your community. For more information, call Wayne Palsson at 206-412-4736.
