Tribal Chief Dies in Traditional Canoe Event
A First Nations chief from British Columbia died Wednesday when his canoe overturned during an annual journey celebrating Northwest native people's maritime culture. Chief Jerry Jack of the Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nations of Gold River, B.C., fell from a Makah tribe canoe during the event, which was under way near Sequim, Wash.
